This year’s conference opened with a welcome panel including Bill Kelly, President of the Virginia Airport Operators Council (VAOC); Bill O’Brien, Special Projects Coordinator for Bath County; Randy Burdette, Director of the Virginia Department of Aviation (DOAV) and Sean Connaughton, Virginia Secretary of Transportation. Sessions following the welcome included “Insight from Washington” presented by Henry Ogrondzinski, National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) and “Perspectives on the Industry” presented by Jim Bennett, A.A.E.
So far attendance numbers are looking above average for the second year at The Omni Homestead. This afternoon’s agenda includes panels and breakout sessions as well as “FAA Question and Answer” with Terry Page, WADO. The annual awards banquet is scheduled for tonight where DOAV will have the opportunity to recognize outstanding contributions to our aviation community.
