Roanoke Regional Airport will soon gain two additional daily Delta Airlines flights to Atlanta while Lynchburg Regional Airport will lose its two daily flights to Atlanta as of January 4th.
The tradeoff is that Delta will cancel one of its two daily flights from Roanoke to Detroit at the same time. In addition, according to Roanoke Regional Airport spokesperson, Sherry Wallace, Delta usually adds one flight to Atlanta each spring, anyway.
A Delta spokesperson was quoted in the Lynhcburg News & Advance as saying that “While we did make the decision to suspend service in Lynchburg, because of poor performance of that route, we’ve seen an overall increase in travel demand in the region.”
