Shenandoah Valley Poker Run to benefit flight instructor

EAA Chapter 511 will hold its 7th Annual Poker Run Sunday, Oct. 10 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., however, your start time is pilot's discretion.

Proceeds will go toward unexpected medical expenses for David Van Clief, CFI at Eagle’s Nest Airport in Waynesboro. Prizes include gift certificates, clothing, fuel, and aviation supplies. If weather is questionable, a decision will be made and all FBOs notified by 9 a.m. (rain date Oct 24th).

Cost is an ante of $10 per "player" or only $5 for EAA members. Each pilot and all passengers may play. You may ante up and receive a play sheet at any of the participating airport FBOs. Additional donations towards David’s Benefit can also be left at the FBOs with the entry fee.

This is not a race. To qualify for prizes, you must first "feed the kitty" (register). Then take (preferably fly) your play sheet to at least five of the seven participating airports in any order (Shenandoah Valley, Luray, New Market, Front Royal, Charlottesville, Sky Bryce, Winchester). The FBOs will each have a full set of playing cards. Draw a card at each location and have the FBO initial the corresponding box (give back the card). Since each FBO will have a full deck, any card you draw more than once becomes a joker- you decide what it is at the end. Have your play sheet at SHD by 4 p.m. to "play your hand." You may better your hand by going to six or all seven airports (like saying "hit me"). Prizes will be awarded to the best hand, the worst hand and others.

Special thanks to SHD and the other FBOs and businesses for providing support, facilities, prizes, and refreshments for this GA event.
