It's that time of year again... Fall 2012 Aviation Safety Week
The Virginia Department of Aviation and AOPA Foundation Air Safety Institute will offer safety seminars entitled Flying for a Lifetime at four locations across the Commonwealth of Virginia October 22‐25, 2012 from 7‐9 p.m. The seminar presenter is aviation educator Andy Miller who is an FAA Certified Flight Instructor (airplane, instrument) and seminar presenter/Flight Instructor Refresher Course (FIRC) Instructor at the AOPA Foundation Air Safety Institute.
The seminar is applicable for all pilots. A bit of trivia: Every cell in the human body is replaced at least once every ten years. You are, quite literally, not the same person you were a decade ago. You're also (less literally) not the same pilot. Experience, physical stamina, risk tolerance and mental acuity all shift over the years, in obvious and not‐so‐obvious ways. Question is, how do you adjust? This seminar delves into the forces that shape us as pilots, and explores different ways to maintain the same high level of safety over a lifetime of flying.
Monday, October 22 from 7:00 ‐ 9:00 p.m.
at the Virginia Air and Space Center in Hampton.
Tuesday, October 23 from 7:00 ‐ 9:00 p.m.
at the Virginia Tech/Montgomery Executive Airport in Blacksburg.
Wednesday, October 24 from 7:00 ‐ 9:00 p.m.
at the City Palace in Manassas.
Thursday, October 25 from 7:00 ‐ 9:00 p.m.
at the Virginia Aviation Museum in Richmond.
Pilots attending the Air Safety Institute’s safety seminars receive free pilot training while enjoying the company of fellow‐aviators. Safety seminars qualify for the ground portion of the FAA Wings Program and for the safety requirements of the Virginia Aviation Ambassadors Program.
