On Sunday, September 9, 2012 DOAV staff members met with members of the Virginia Helicopter Association (VHA) at their quarterly meeting at the Williamsburg-Jamestown Airport to execute a Memorandum of Understanding that officially brought the VHA in as members of the Virginia Volunteer Pilot Group (VVPG).
The VVPG, a conglomeration of volunteer pilot organizations, will work in conjunction with the Virginia Department of Aviation, Air Care Alliance and the Virginia Department of Emergency Management to aid the Commonwealth when instances that require the utilization of aircraft arise. VVPG members organizations, such as the VHA, will volunteer their time, skills and aircraft to help those in need.
