The Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport increased passenger traffic by 7.1% in September. 91,465 passengers used the Airport in September 2010 compared with 85,371 passengers in September 2009. September’s passenger traffic was an all time record high for the airport during the same month in all previous years.
“We are extremely proud of the consistent increases in passenger traffic we have enjoyed. Continued passenger growth supports our existing mix of air service providers and we believe validates the future expansion of non-stop destinations. We strive to offer exceptional customer service and value-added travel options, and look forward to serving our communities during the upcoming holiday travel season” stated Stephen M. Mallon, Chairman of the Peninsula Airport Commission (PAC).
The Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport was also recently recognized by Airports Council International-North America (ACI-NA) as one of 28 airports to place in their 2010 Excellence in Marketing and Communications Contest. This year 55 airports submitted over 250 entries; the Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport won second place for video and film productions. The video series was produced in conjunction with News Channel 3 (WTKR) to promote new air service to Denver on Frontier Airlines.
The Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport is served by four airlines: AirTran Airways, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines and US Airways with non-stop service to seven domestic destinations (Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Denver, NY-LaGuardia, Orlando and Philadelphia) with connections throughout the world.
